OUR STORY

Sydney Prop Specialists

From its modest roots in the early 1980s, dressing sets for bands with little more than a vase of flowers on a plinth, Sydney Prop Specialists has blossomed into a powerhouse of creativity. What began as simple set decorations has evolved into immersive, themed experiences that transform entire spaces. Today, the company boasts one of Australia’s largest prop collections and has grown into a multifaceted business, redefining the art of event design.

At the heart of Sydney Props is our sprawling Marrickville facility, a creative hub where imagination comes to life. Here, you’ll find a dazzling showroom, a vast warehouse stocked with an eclectic array of props, and a team of 20 full-time staff—masterful prop builders and designers—dedicated to crafting unforgettable, large-scale events. But that’s not all. Tucked within the same building is Sydney Props Photo Studios, a dynamic space featuring four uniquely themed studios. This is where content creators bring TV shows, commercials, and feature films to life, and where photographers and models collaborate daily, shaping the latest trends and visual stories.

Sydney Props is a powerhouse alliance of five leading event industry brands: Sydney Prop Specialists, Sydney Props Photo Studios, Custom Elements, Luxe Table Decor, and Sydney Event Services. Together, we’re redefining what’s possible in the world of events, combining our expertise to deliver extraordinary, seamless experiences. Whether you engage with us through one of our specialized divisions or let Events Revolution orchestrate your entire project, we’re here to bring your vision to life.

These five divisions form The Sydney Props Group—a family of passionate, talented creatives dedicated to serving Sydney’s advertising and event industries. From props to photo studios, decor to full-scale event production, we’re here to inspire, innovate, and create moments that leave a lasting impression.

Our Team

Greg Hancock
CEO of the Sydney Props Group of Companies
MARKET POSITION: RESOURCED SUPPLIER TO THE EVENT INDUSTRY

For more than 35 years, Greg Hancock has built Sydney Props into a highly resourced supplier to the event industry. Beginning his career in 1987 with specialty corporate bands, Greg went on to build businesses across entertainment, events, travel and incentive management before evolving Sydney Props from a traditional prop-hire business into a comprehensive event resource. The business has continually expanded in response to what event professionals need, now supplying props, décor, table centres, furniture, more than 3,000 Tiffany chairs, event styling, floristry, production and a wide range of specialist event resources — all from one trusted supplier.

Today, Sydney Props has developed a significant in-house resource base, including one of Australia’s largest collections of unique props and décor, more than 3,000 Tiffany chairs, an in-house florist and dedicated event styling capabilities. Greg’s philosophy has always been to build and own the resources clients need, rather than simply source them from elsewhere. This provides greater control over quality, availability, creativity and delivery, while allowing the team to respond quickly to the changing demands of the event industry. This resource-driven approach has contributed to the successful delivery of more than 3,000 events for event companies, venues, corporate clients and event professionals.

At the heart of Sydney Props leadership team is an ongoing commitment to 100% customer satisfaction. A great supplier should make life easier for the event professional — providing reliable resources, practical solutions and the confidence that when a client asks, “Can you do it?” the team will find a way. Greg continues to invest in people, resources and new capabilities with a clear objective: to maintain Sydney Props as one of the event industry’s most capable, creative and dependable resourced suppliers, while delivering exceptional service and experiences for every guest.

Craig Watson
General Manager Sydney Props Photo Studios.
Director / Treasurer Meetings and Events Australia

Craig Watson is one of the people who truly knows Sydney Props from the inside out. For more than 10 years, Craig has been instrumental in the growth and development of the business — designing, building, sourcing, moving and managing an extraordinary range of the resources within our facilities. His career has taken him well beyond traditional event supply, overseeing the development of Sydney Props’ photographic studios, custom-build division, set design and production capabilities, creating resources that service both the Australian events industry and the film and television sector.

Craig has played a major role in developing and managing our in-house photographic studios, which have supported productions and clients including Foxtel, Channel Nine, Channel Seven, ABC, Disney and feature film productions. He also oversees our Custom Build division, bringing extensive practical knowledge of set construction, scenic environments, fabrication and production to projects where standard products simply aren’t enough. His Bachelor of Commerce from UTS adds another dimension to his expertise — giving Craig a strong commercial understanding of budgets, purchasing and project management, with a particular talent for finding smart solutions and achieving maximum impact from every dollar.

Originally from the fashion industry, Craig has travelled extensively and brings a broad international perspective, an exceptional general knowledge and, according to the team, an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of trivia! But it is his patience, attention to detail and unwavering service standards that make him invaluable to Sydney Props and its clients. In an industry where deadlines move, briefs change and event professionals are under enormous pressure, Craig remains calm, practical and focused on the outcome.
